Gillett falls to Peshtigo
After securing a playoff spot two weeks ago, Gillett dropped its final game of the regular season Friday in a 13-9 battle with Peshtigo for second place in the Marinette & Oconto Conference.
Brett Milhans scored the only touchdown of the day for Gillett (6-3, 4-3 M&O). Quarterback Alex Zeitler threw for 99 yards on 12 completions.
The Tigers recorded a safety in the third quarter to grab a 2-point lead, but Riley Reif rambled 13 yards later in the quarter for the final TD of the game and a Peshtigo (6-3, 5-2 M&O) victory.
Coleman (9-0, 7-0 M&O) claimed the conference crown.

Suring 3rd at M&O tournament
Suring fell to eventual champion Peshtigo in the first round of bracket play, but then defeated Niagara for a third-place finish at the Marinette & Oconto Conference tournament in Oconto Falls on Saturday.
Lena and Gillett placed ninth and 10th place, respectively.
Katie Stegeman led Suring with 34 kills and 24 blocks. Courtney Heimerl tallied 43 assists. Azee VanBellinger recorded 54 digs as well.
Gillett’s Faith Sorlie recorded 17 kills. Setter Jessica Anderson added 37 assists, and Megan Wolfe and Maya Breed each had 16 digs.
Suring tops Crivitz before playoffs
Suring got 20 digs and three service aces from Azee VanBellinger during a 25-13, 25-22, 25-22 victory over Crivitz on Oct. 13.
Katie Stegeman led Suring with nine kills. Hailey Thomson added four block kills. Courtney Heimerl recorded 17 assists.
CROSS-COUNTRY
Wolf 6th, Konitzer 7th at NEC meet
The Oconto Falls boys team placed fourth and the girls squad seventh at the North Eastern Conference meet Saturday at Waupaca High School.
Junior Evan Konitzer finished in seventh place (17:48), while Noah Kokko-Ludemann and Justan Konitzer ran in the top 20.
Senior Bailey Wolf paced the girls team with a sixth-place finish in 20:01.
Little Chute won the boys title, and Luxemburg-Casco won the girls title.
Gillett drops close match to Niagara
After winning sets three and four, Gillett was not able to pull out a victory in a 25-22, 25-19, 26-28, 25-27, 15-6 defeat at the hands of Niagara on Oct. 13.
Victoria Loberger led the Tigers with 11 kills. Jessica Anderson and Maya Breed each added nine kills. Anderson also recorded 19 assists and 12 digs. Breed finished the game with 17 digs.
