Halloween tea among library’s October programs

The Shawano City-County Library will continue to provide several free programs during October. This month’s featured program will be a Halloween tea at 2 p.m. Oct. 15. The gothic theme will include décor, presentation on the history of Halloween, and Halloween/horror movie trivia. So don your pointed hats, capes and costumes for a spooky tea. As space is limited and filling up fast, contact the library to reserve a spot. Children’s programs are Baby & Me at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Story Time at 10 a.m. Wednesdays and Gather ‘Round at 10 a.m. Thursdays. The library will also host a Smokey Bear program for families at 10 a.m. Oct. 10. Teen Tuesdays occur weekly from 3-5 p.m. Teens may drop in at any point to take part in fun activities and snacks. October programs will feature Pencil Monsters, Cookie Monster Minute 2 Win It, Caramel Apple Monster and Monster Rock Magnets. A special Halloween party for teens will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 30 and includes making glow-in-the-dark mini pumpkins. Adult programs include Needles ‘R Us every Friday at 9 a.m. DIY Crafts & More will focus on pine cones from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 26. The Learning Lab will have another busy month. The topics are Gmail at 9 a.m. Oct. 6, iPad Basics at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 6, Borrowing eBooks at 9 a.m. Oct. 8; Facebook at 9 a.m. Oct. 15, Pinterest at 9 a.m. Oct. 21, Google Docs at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 21, and InfoSoup’s My Account at 9 a.m. Oct. 23. Reservations are required for Learning Lab classes. The Shawano City-County Library will be closed on Oct. 13 for a staff development day. The Shawano City-County Library consists of the main library in Shawano, branches in Birnamwood, Bonduel, Mattoon-Hutchins, Tigerton and Wittenberg as well as a countywide delivery service.
