Gordon W. Carlson, 56, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
Gordon was born in Menominee, Michigan, on Dec. 28, 1958, to the late Wesley and Joan (Therriault) Carlson. On Sept. 22, 1991, Gordon was united in marriage to Kimberlee Grunewald in Bonduel. He was a handy man, always helping others and was known to his family as Mr. Fix-It.
Gordon served our country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the United States Postal Service for over 25 years, including being the postmaster in Cecil for several years before his retirement.
Gordon had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kimberlee; their children, Megan (Matt) Oley, of Plover, Whitnee Carlson, Kelsee (Marcus Corn) Carlson and Weslee Carlson, all of Shawano; three grandchildren, Corbin, Adalynn and Makai; his brother, Jim (significant other, Sue) Santy, of Peshtigo; his sister, Diane (Mike) LaPlant, of Marinette; his mother- and father-in-law, Ione and James Grunewald, of Bonduel; his brothers-in-law, Jeff and Curtis Grunewald, both of Bonduel. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Timothy Shoup officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Military rites will be conducted by Shawano American Legion Post 117.
