Gary W. Rudolph, 76, of the town of Larrabee, Waupaca County, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 15, 2015, following a courageous three-year battle with colon caner.
Gary was born on July 17, 1939, in Clintonville as the son of Vivian (Meyer) Rudolph and the late Walter F. Rudolph. He graduated from Clintonville High School in 1957 and attended Superior State College. Gary then returned home to Clintonville, where he worked for Torborg’s Clintonville Lumber & Supply as well as Retail Lumber in Shawano before retiring in 2009. He was united in marriage to Sally Flak on Aug. 26, 1961.
As a youth, Gary was an active Explorer with the Boy Scouts. He served as president and treasurer for the Jaycees in Clintonville and was a member of Wisconsin Quarter Horse Association, where he served two years on the board of directors. Gary’s passion was in raising, training and showing quarter horses. He loved his family as much as they loved him and cherished spending time with all of them.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; children, Jeffery Rudolph, Clintonville, Katherine (Vince) Mares, Clintonville, Rebecca (Steve) Thomas, Shawano, Therese (Brian) Mares, Wautoma, and Dr. Laura Rudolph-Owen (James Owen), Boston, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Jessie Rudolph, Molly (Danny) Wedde, Megan Mares, Max Mares, Scott Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Cole Owen and Olivia Owen; great-grandchildren, Braden Thomas and Kayleigh Wedde; mother, Vivian Rudolph, Clintonville; sister, Susan (John) Plahn, Mound, Minnesota.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Walter.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville with Deacon Lincoln Wood officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
