High-flying adventure and down-to-earth opportunities will be a part of the seventh annual fly-in sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Warbirds of America Badger Squadron 6.
Saturday’s event will take place at the headquarters of the Badger Squadron, the Oconto-J. Douglas Bake Municipal Airport in Oconto.
Airplanes of all types will arrive at the show; 50 flew in for the 2014 event. Experimental, general aviation and vintage aircraft will be on display, including Warbird aircraft. Airplane and helicopter rides will be available.
On a smaller scale, remote-controlled aircraft will fly all day and will be featured in a one-hour show at 2 p.m.
On land, Vietnam and World War II encampments will be set up, plus a Show and Shine for car enthusiasts, featuring antique and muscle cars, tractors and everything in between.
Vendors, crafters and historical groups will have booths. Food and beverages will be available.
An opening ceremony honoring veterans is scheduled at 10:30 a.m.
The fly-in is the brainchild of an Oconto Falls husband-and-wife team, James Valentine and Jean Fogelberg, who wanted to bring attention to the airport in Oconto. From its start, the event has drawn a large crowd, 2,000 people at the 2009 debut and an estimated 10,000 last year.
