The Friends of the Library annual book sale will be held at the Oconto Falls Community Library during Falls Fest.
The sale is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 26, at the library, 251 N. Main St. The sale will continue the following week, during regular library hours.
Friends of the Library members can shop the sale from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday. Friends memberships can be paid that evening or at the library at any time.
Donations of books, CDs and DVDs can be brought to the library during library hours.
In conjunction with the sale on Thursday, the Oconto Falls Woman’s Club will hold a bake sale in the library lobby.
The sale provides an opportunity for individuals to stock up on winter reading material, for teachers to pick up items for their classrooms and for folks wishing to contribute to the Little Free Library boxes in the city.
Remaining books go to veterans hospitals and nonprofit organizations.
The Friends organization provides funds for programs and scholarships, plus such things as magazine covers, digitizing newspaper archives and a subscription to “Book Page,” a book review publication available to library users.
The organization also is a co-sponsor of Oconto County Reads, presenting author and former stand-up comedian June Melby. Melby will talk about her book“My Family and Other Hazards: A Memoir” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Falls Area Performing Arts Center. The free event is open to everyone.
