Bonduel High School sophomore Emily Sorenson won the long jump Friday at the WIAA Division 2 sectional at Little Chute.
Sorenson was the only jumper to top 17 feet. Her victory accounted for 10 of Bonduel’s 12 points in girls competition and advanced her to the state meet next week in La Crosse.
Bonduel earned another point in the 800-meter relay where Sorenson joined Peyton Hrabik, Hayley Pues and Christine Sell to finish eighth (1 minute, 50.49 seconds). The same group finished eighth in the 400 relay at 52.18.
The Bears finished in a tie with Southern Door for 22nd in the team standings.
Clintonville’s girls finished 10th in the team standings, led by Allison Johnson, who won the 800 in 2:16.94. Chrissy Betz finished fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.26). Jessica Petruzates also qualified for state in the 3,200.
The Bonduel boys team finished tied with Denmark for 28th. Hunter Berry was seventh in the 1,600, and Trebor Rueckert placed seventh in the 400.
Clintonville’s boys finished in a tie with Fox Valley Lutheran for 19th. Skyler Lehman was fourth in the pole vault, qualifying for state, and sixth in the high jump at 6-0. Thomas Miller was sixth in the 1,600.
