Randy Mallmann is challenging incumbent Shawano County Board member Devin Krizan for the District 18 position in the April 2 election.
The seat covers Ward 3 in the Town of Richmond and Ward 5 in the Town of Wescott.
Because the boundaries of the districts were redrawn due to the 2020 Census, Krizan and fellow board member Steve Gueths were placed in the same district. Gueths opted not to run again.
Krizan did not return a candidate questionnaire.

Background and qualifications: I grew up and graduated from Chilton High School. Working at three different Farm and Home stores in the state is where I met my beautiful wife of 34 years, Sheryl, which is what brought me to Shawano 35 years ago. We have been blessed with two wonderful kids that are also married and have blessed us with two beautiful grandkids so far, with one more on the way in May.
I am very active with Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School, currently serving as a trustee, also volunteering at SAM25 Homeless Shelter doing all the maintenance and anything else needed of me.
Most significant issue facing county government: Most significant issue that I have been hearing from many people is the potential disconnect between the city of Shawano and the county. It is great seeing the continued growth of our Main Street businesses. I would like to see continued growth in our current manufacturing business as well as seeing more businesses wanting to come to Shawano and Shawano County.
Most significant issue for residents: I believe for the most part, residents of Shawano are very pleased with the progress they continue to see. We just need to continue to communicate well with residents on what their tax dollars are being spent on and the long-term benefits they will have on them and future generations of Shawano and Shawano County.
Why should voters choose you over your opponent: My 40 years of sales, manufacturing, management experience and currently as the general manager at Dearco Distributors have given me the tools and experience to relate and communicate with residents, businesses and visitors. I love this community and would like to see it continue to grow and flourish.
