Dustin Robaidek is challenging Shawano County Board incumbent Kathy Luebke in the new District 12.
The district includes Ward 1 in the Town of Maple Grove, Wards 4 and 7 in Pulaski and Ward 1 in the Town of Angelica.
The election will be held April 2, and the winner will serve a two-year term.
Kathy Luebke
Background and qualifications: Graduate of Pulaski High School; husband Gary, daughter, son-in-law and three granddaughters; retired dairy farmer and now they cash crop their land; also, the clerk for the Town of Maple Grove since 1999.
Most significant issue facing county government: The county has many services and facilities that we maintain. Trying to do this with a limited budget can be challenging. There is a major security issue at the courthouse that needs to be addressed that affects the public, courthouse employees and even the prisoners. We must also evaluate whether some services are convenient or mandated by law. Tough decisions will have to be made in the future.
Most significant issue for residents: Today, residents in our county must choose between buying food or buying the medicine they need. We, as a county, should respect and consider these concerns when we make the decisions that will affect how much taxes we must pay.
Why should voters choose you over your opponent: I strongly believe that using common sense and working together are vital for moving our county forward. It’s a principle I’m proud of and one that I’ve always upheld as county supervisor.
Dustin Robaidek
Background and qualifications: age 36. Pulaski High School 2005; Fox Valley Technical College 2008; farm operations; farmer and concrete construction. Single, run dairy farm with parents Don and Donna Robaidek and aunts Jane and Jean Robaidek. Also has two sisters, Dana and Danielle, all from Pulaski. Maternal grandparents are Ken and Carol Capelle of Cecil (Ken is the county supervisor for District 9), Julius and Virgilla Robaidek of Pulaski. Lifelong resident of the Town of Maple Grove and Shawano County.
Most significant issue facing county government: To me, the important issues are the growth of the county and and the ability to create more jobs in the future, as well as making Shawano County a place people want to come to.
Most significant issue for residents: There are issues all over that affect lots of residents. I want to help work with them to change things for the better by communicating with them and hearing their concerns.
Why should voters choose you over your opponent: I just think there needs to be a change and new ideas presented. I want to step forward and be a part of the next generation of people to lead the county — provide a younger generation’s opinion on issues that arise and the growth of Shawano County.
