Delores Frieda Mae Lechterman, 77, of Tilleda, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013. Born on May 26, 1936, in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alma (Hoffmier) Pieper.
On Oct. 30, 1954, she was united in marriage to Louis E. Lechterman at the St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the town of Richmond. The couple lived most of their life in the Tilleda area, where they owned and operated the Tilleda Hardware Store for 30 years. The couple were members of the Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda, where they served as janitor for 43 years, and Delores was active with the WELCA. She was also a member of the Tilleda Advancement Club and was a general leader of the Tilleda Timber Wolves 4-H Club for 25 years. Delores loved visiting with people, going to ball games, cooking, baking, watching the birds and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed riding her bicycle. For the past two years, Delores made her home with her daughter Mary and her husband, Leroy Hiltgen.
Delores is survived by three children, Mary (Leroy) Hiltgen, of Tilleda, Marcy (Allen) Heimos, of Ashwaubenon, and Michael (special friend, Melissa Sleeter) Lechterman, of Shawano; 10 grandchildren, Christopher (fiancé, Lisa Olson), Jonathan (fiancé, Katie Marquardt), and Justin (fiancé, Sally Coggins) Lechterman, Jennifer (Josh) Meyer, Jeffrey (Lorraine), Gregrey (fiancé, Gina Micalettie), Daniel (Angie) and Christopher (Amy) Hiltgen, Jesse and Dana (Carol) Heimos; 10 great-grandchildren, Easton Lechterman, Megan, Hillary, Geoff, Tad, Carsten, Shelby, Greta, Odyssesseous and Zanarchin Hiltgen; two great-great-grandchildren, Breah and Reagan Hiltgen; and a brother, Darwin (Pat) Pieper, of Gresham.
Delores was preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis, on Aug. 13, 2007; her parents; and two brothers, Robert (Joyce) and Willis (Bonnie) Pieper.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda with the Rev. Dennis Creswell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation was held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and continues at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
