Delmar ‘Bud’ Schenk

Delmar ‘Bud’ Schenk, 84, Bowler, died on Friday, July 12, 2013, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born July 7, 1929, in Wausau, the son of the late Eddie and Viola (Rosenow) Schenk. On April 18, 1953, Bud was united in marriage to Lila Kriegel at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tigerton. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2013. Bud was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Davenport-Lang American Legion Post 414, Bowler. He owned and operated Schenk’s Service Station, Bowler, for more than 60 years. Bud was an avid snowmobiler and owned the first snowmobile dealership in the area. He also started the Bowler Snowmobile Club and enjoyed hunting. Bud was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. Survivors include three children, Keith Schenk, Tigerton, Patricia Schenk, Wausau, and Pamela Gehring, San Diego; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjorie (Jack) Horn, Appleton, and Delores Diener, Pelican Lake. In addition to his wife and parents, Bud was preceded in death by a sister in infancy. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Michael Schram will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
