Christopher D. Davies, 63, of Leopolis, passed away Saturday evening, June 13, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.
Christopher David Davies was born on Jan. 24, 1952, in Wareham, England, to Thomas and Marjorie (Cobb) Davies. Chris was raised and attended school in England, where he completed his college degree in automobile technology.
Chris worked as a British bobby police officer and was very proud of his duty protecting the queen. He volunteered with the Sea and Cliff Rescue Team while in England as well. Chris entered the British Army, serving for 10 1/2 years and then spent two years with the multinational force and observers in the Sinai Desert, Egypt. Next he worked with the peacekeeping forces in Israel for the United Nations.
In the mid-1980s he became a pen pal with Brenda K. Luther, and with each letter their relationship blossomed. In 1993 Chris moved to the United States, and they were united in marriage on May 12, 1994, in Green Bay. The couple owned and operated the Fremont Café for three years. They settled in rural Leopolis in 2000 and started The Mad Englishman’s Pub & Grill at the Riverside Golf Course, Clintonville. After a couple of years of good service and his excellent fish and chips, the couple closed the restaurant. Then he worked for some time as the service manager at Mills Fleet Farm and then for several years at O’Reilly Auto Parts, both in Clintonville. Recently, he was employed as a semi mechanic for Quick Transport in De Pere.
Chris enjoyed all kinds of music and liked to DJ for events. His other interests included spending time outdoors fishing, boating and even sail boating in his early years. Chris loved spending time with his grandkids and working in his vegetable and flower garden.
Survivors include his dear wife, Brenda, and four children, Nir Ben-David, of New Jersey, Brandon (Lisa) Barr, of Appleton, Shawn (Kelly) Davies, of Pulaski, and Christpher (Anita) Barr, of Keshena. There are five grandchildren, Brianna, Laura, Savannah, Kaylissa and Brandon Jr. There are three sisters, Christine (Richard) Holland, of Wareham, England, Carolyn (Kenneth) Singleton, of Swanage, England, and Cheryl (Colin) Marks, of Swanage, England. He is further survived by a special goddaughter, Donna (Keith) Ashcroft, of Swanage, England; his spoiled dog, Sammy; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 4 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, with the Rev. Keith Wolf officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Chris’ name.
