Betty J. Galler, 94, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday morning, June 17, 2015, at Evergreen Care Center in Shawano.
The former Betty Brown was born April 26, 1921, in the Welsh settlement of Belmont Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. She is a daughter of the late Will and Annie (Davis) Brown. She attended school in Rewey and later graduated from Mineral Point High School. On May 26, 1943, she was united in marriage to Franklin M. Galler at her parents’ home. Following their marriage the couple lived in Milwaukee. Betty stayed at home and was a housewife and a mother to her children. The couple moved to Shawano following her husband’s retirement in 1985.
Betty was very active in various church activities. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Shawano. She was a former member of the Shawano Medical Center Auxiliary. She was also an avid quilter.
Her husband, Franklin, preceded her in death on June 16, 2011.
Survivors include one son, Theodore (Janice) Galler, of Seymour, and one daughter Dr. Beth Lynn (Jeff) Gillis, of Shawano; five grandchildren, Stacy, Joel (Denise) and Seth (Jennifer) Galler, and George J. (Joanna) and Will F. (Megan) Gillis; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Clara, and Harper; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, W. Elliott Brown and Robert Brown.
Funeral services for Betty Galler will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Shawano. Pastor Susan Phillips will officiate. Interment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made in Betty’s name to the First Presbyterian Church for the Layette Program, the Shawano Medical Center Auxiliary for the Pillow Pal Program, or the Peniel Cemetery Fund.
