Three recent drug overdoses on the Menominee Reservation, one being fatal, were tied to a Keshena who was indicted this week for fentanyl distribution.
According to the indictment, Warren J. Grignon, 41, allegedly sold fentanyl to three individuals on Dec. 23. One person, identified in the three-count indictment died from using the fentanyl provided Grignon. The other two people also overdosed, were revived but sustained serious bodily injury as a result.
If convicted on all three counts, Grignon faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 60 years in prison and maximum penalty of life in prison.
Grignon was arraigned Thursday in federal court Thursday on one count of Distribution of Controlled Substance Resulting in Death and two counts of Distribution of Controlled Substance Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
No court dates for the case were set Thursday.
Grignon is currently detained in the Brown County Jail, according to online records.
In January 2009, Grignon was charged by complaint in federal court with assault and robbery in connection with a plan to take drug sales proceeds from Chelesa Brown.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 30, 2008, Grignon drove Brown, Clarabelle Teller, and Marcus Boyd to Rabbit Ridge Road on the reservation where Brown, Teller and Boyd left Grignon’s vehicle and walked into the woods. There, Brown was beaten unconscious and robbed of $100.
Brown was later treated for a broken jaw and other lacerations.
Although Grignon made an initial court appearance on Jan. 23, 2009, no other court proceedings were docketed in the case.
Teller and Boyd were both indicted on assault and robbery charges. Teller was sentenced on May 5, 2009, to 46 months in prison. Boyd was sentenced a month later to four years in prison.
