An Oconto County jury deliberated for over 30 minutes March 7 before finding an Abrams man guilty of regularly sexually assaulting a young child.
Michael James Kriescher, 44, Abrams, was convicted on charges of repeated sexual assault of the same child, first-degree sexual assault of a child younger than 13 and one other related charge.
During the trial that lasted a day and a half, the jury watched the video of a lengthy forensic interview with the victim, who also testified in person to identify Kriescher as the assailant.
Judge Jay Conley scheduled sentencing for May 20 and ordered a pre-sentence investigation. Kriescher had been in custody in lieu of $50,000 cash bond; upon conviction, Conley revoked his bond.
If the possible prison terms were ordered to be consecutive, Kriescher faces a maximum sentence of up to 160 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
