Hit-and-run suspected in death

A 22-year-old man was found dead early Friday morning of an apparent hit-and-run on County Road M at the state Highway 29 overpass in Shawano. Timothy J. Meade, of Stephenson, Mich., was found in the eastbound lane of traffic on County Road M at 2:30 a.m. Authorities say he was likely struck within a half hour before that. The hit-and-run vehicle was likely a larger vehicle, such as a pickup or SUV, that would have been headed eastbound on County Road M. Shawano police, sheriff'rs deputies and investigators, and Shawano Ambulance responded to the scene. Meade was transported to Shawano Medical Center. The Shawano County coroner was paged at 2:39 a.m., and the coroner officially pronounced Meade deceased at 6:30 a.m. The Shawano County Sherif'ss Department is seeking the public's help and asking that anyone who might have any information or was in the area between 1:45 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. to contact the department at 715-526-3111.
