The Shawano/Bonduel high school girls swim team edged Seymour 96-74 Tuesday at SCHS.
Shawano/Bonduel took firsts in nine of 11 events, including two each by Ali Hanson and Clare Martell.
Hanson took first in the 50-yard freestyle and led a 1-2-3 Hawks sweep in the 100 butterfly, with Emme Quandt taking second and Alyssa Anker placing third.
“It’s a fun thing to see happen, the girls get really excited,” Shawano/Bonduel coach Sharon Hanson said. “The difference between third and fourth was really tight, they were within a second. Alyssa really poured it on in the end there to pull ahead.”
The coach was also proud of being able to go 1-2 in the 200 medley relay. Martell and Hanson were joined by Carly Hinnefeld and Whitney Banker in the first-place team, while Malory Soper, Anker, Quandt and Ailysh Tetting were the second-place team.
“It was really fun to have two medley relay teams that did very well,” Sharon Hanson said. “We have enough people that can swim all the different strokes. So we were able to put together two strong teams.”
Tuesday was the team’s senior celebration, recognizing the contributions of Soper, Chloe Nolan, Shania O’Kimosh and India Tauchen. The seniors were introduced before the meet and received gifts.
