Harold “Harry” Follett, 83, Little Suamico, passed away at sunrise on Sept. 30, 2015, with his loving family by his side.
Harold was born on Feb. 6, 1932, in Oconto to the late Christopher and Grace (Baldwin) Follett. He graduated from Oconto High School in 1950. He married Margaret Larsen on May 23, 1953. He served in the National Guard from 1949 to 1961 and was employed by Procter & Gamble for 41 years, retiring in 1994.
Harold was an avid outdoorsman and also enjoyed gardening and making maple syrup with his children. He loved spending time up at his cottage on the bay and cooking for his family and friends, especially chicken booyah. He looked forward to holiday and family get-togethers. He had a quick wit about him and loved to share a good meal and conversation with family and friends. His greatest joy was being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife, Margaret; children, Bonnie MacSwain, Abrams, David (Rachel) Follett, Abrams, Bryan Follett, Little Suamico, Larry Follett (Kim Kuehne and her children Kerry and Braeden), Luxemburg, Julie (Dale) Novak, Tampa, Florida, and Karen (Eric) Smits, De Pere; grandchildren, Paul Ryszka (Sara Janz), Wisconsin Rapids, Rachel Hickey, De Pere, Brendan (Andrea) Hickey, Savannah, Georgia, Jesse (Lisa) Athey, Green Bay, Tracy (Michael) Athey, Green Bay, Paula (Jeremy) Anderson, West Bend, and Jordan Follett (Danielle Furton), Alayna and Dominic Smits, all of De Pere; great-grandchildren, Annaliese and Ciara Athey, Jackson and Hannah Athey, Jacob Anderson, Lilyanna Ryszka; five sisters, Ida Mae Messenger, Oconto Falls, Nathalie (John) Trepanier, Oconto, Audrey Smith, Oconto Falls, Marlene Cota, Oconto, and Joan (Terry) Amore, Suamico; special nephew, Tom Follett, Oconto; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wesley Follett Sr. and Richard Follett, and an infant sister.
Family and friends visited from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, 305 N. 10th St., De Pere. Visitation continued on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, 1307 Lourdes Ave., De Pere, from 9-10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Tim Shillcox, O. Praem, officiating. Military funeral honors were accorded to Harold after Mass. Harold was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Little Suamico.
