Groshek’s walk-off homer lifts Elderon to 4-3 win over Hatley

Brandon Groshek’s solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning broke a 3-3 tie and gave Elderon a 4-3 North Division win over Hatley on June 21 as part of a full slate of BABA games played over the Father’s Day weekend.

North Division

Elderon 4, Hatley 3

Groshek’s walk-off homer lifted the WhiskeyJacks over the Braves.

Eland 14, Aniwa 11

Shane Larson had four of Eland’s 17 hits in a win on the Orioles’ home field.

Nic Barnes and Jeremy Jensen added three hits for the Engineers, while Jared Richter and Jacob LIgenza added two home runs each.

Chris Wiesman hit a pair of home runs and had three of Aniwa’s 14 hits. Wade Farmer, Tanner Graham and Ryan Govek added two hits for the Orioles.

Tyler Nelson picked up the win on the mound and Farmer took the loss.

Birnamwood 19, Crandon 1 (6 inn.)

The Kings picked up a win over the Kentucks on June 19 in a game that ended in the sixth inning because of lightning in the Birnamwood area.

Tommy Gagnon, Zandyr Barke, Mason Meverden and Connor Meverden each had three of Wittenberg’s 20 hits, while Grant Praslowicz and Logan Thiex added two.

Trent Palubicki and Cody Schultz had Crandon’s only hits.

Mason Meverden improved to 3-1 on the season by getting the win on the mound and Palubicki took the loss.

West Division

Wittenberg 3, Leopolis 0

The Pilots improved to 4-1 in West Division play by shutting out the Bulldogs in a rain-shortened game June 19 in Wittenberg.

Nathan Waupekenay held Leopolis hitless over five innings to pick up the win on the mound, and Pierson Potrykus led the Pilots at the plate with two hits.

South-Central Division

New London 19, Caroline 10

Klay Finger drove in seven of Caroline’s runs with a grand slam and three-run double, but the Cougars still fell to the Irish on June 21.

Jared Cartwright added four hits for Caroline, while Gavin Christopherson had two.

Austin Warren hit a grand slam for the Irish, and Colby Schmude and Noah Hanson also homered for New London.

Plover 3, Tigerton 0

Josh Opiola and Kaden Thauer combined to hold Tigerton scoreless June 21 in a home win over the Tigers.

They also struck out 16 batters.
