Grace A. Staffaroni, 92, of Tigerton, passed away Sunday evening, Oct. 13, 2013, at Kennedy Park Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Schofield.
The former Grace Amy Prince was born on Oct. 12, 1921, in Lynxville, a small town along the Mississippi River. Her parents were divorced when she was 6 years old. Grace moved to a farm at age 8 to live with her grandparents, and at the age of 9 she moved with them to Milwaukee. On May 1, 1938, at the age of 17, Grace eloped with Vincent J. Staffaroni and was married in Lansing, Iowa. The couple made their home in Milwaukee, and they were blessed with five sons. Grace worked as a laborer at Aldrich Chemical Company in Milwaukee for many years. After retirement, the couple settled in Tigerton in 1975.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Tigerton. Grace made beautiful crocheted items and donated them for prizes for church raffles. She also made many salads and baked goods and helped with numerous funeral dinners over the years. Her favorite pastime was watching and feeding the birds. Grace enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Jake. She will be remembered most as a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond, of Milwaukee, Charles (Angela), of Chandler, Ariz., and Larry, of Tigerton. There are 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Louis (Nita) Staffaroni, of Waukesha; a sister-in-law, Carlene Staffaroni, of Milwaukee; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Staffaroni, of Milwaukee; many other relatives and friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent, on Feb. 22, 2010; two sons, Dennis and James; a daughter-in-law, Maria Staffaroni; two granddaughters, Grace Staffaroni and Annette Ellison; and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Tigerton. The Rev. Patrick Lloyd will officiate, and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Friends may call on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
