Gold medalist Baumgartner to speak at library

Gold medal Olympic snowboarder Nick Baumgartner is coming to Oconto Falls on April 15. Baumgartner is scheduled to give a talk and answer questions during an appearance beginning at 6 p.m. at Oconto Falls Community Library, 251 N. Main St., Oconto Falls. He also plans to read from and sign his book “Gold From Iron,” which will be available for sale for cash only. People can buy the book ahead of time to be signed. Baumgartner competed in the 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics. He won his first Olympic gold at the age of 40 in the 2022 Winter Olympics, when he and teammate Lindsey Jacobellis won the inaugural Olympic mixed snowboard cross race. Published earlier this year, “Gold From Iron” is described as a “candid and affable memoir” that tells the story of Baumgartner’s journey from growing up in Iron River, Michigan, to the Olympic podium in Beijing.
