The FRESH Project’s mobile market will again deliver fresh local produce throughout the area at a bargain price to the customer providing affordable, accessible, and healthy food to all.
The mobile market is in its third year, operating from June 28 through Sept. 30. The market has added the Menominee Farmers Market where we will participate as a vendor providing locally grown produce and meats from our rural farmers.
“The FRESH Project is a great addition to our efforts to reestablish fresh, wholesome foods in our community,” said Gary Besaw, director for the Menominee Tribal Department of Agriculture and Food Systems. “I thank the FRESH Project for the various access points they provide our communities. It may seem small to some, but it is a treasure to us.”
“Our goal is to make food more accessible in underserved communities where people with limited financial resources may not be able to access food through traditional grocery stores,” said Barb Mendoza, FRESH Project executive director. “The mobile market will also help us bridge food resources to secure local needs within our food deserts through partnerships with our rural farmers.”
The mobile market will travel to communities in Shawano and Menominee counties. For the full mobile market schedule, go to http://www.thefreshproject.org/mobile-market.
