Eugene Peters

Eugene Peters, 80, Oconto Falls, died Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2021, with family present. He was born July 14, 1941, in Oconto to Allan and Rose (Laabs) Peters. Eugene grew up in Brookside, where he attended a small rural school, which was heated by coal and had two teachers for all eight grades. He later graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the Class of 1959. As a young man, Gene worked for Krause Dairy in Morgan and the Oconto Brewing Co. On April 27, 1963, he married the love of his life, Dorothy “Dottie” Bohl at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. In 1967, he started working as an auto mechanic for Midland Co-op, which later became Bay Lakes and was their service manager of the automotive division for 30 years. He retired from Gustman Automotive in Green Bay in 2003. Gene was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Minnesota Vikings and especially gardening right up until 2020. If you knew Gene, you would see him in his garden. Survivors are his four children, Randy (Patti) Peters, Hubertus, Alison (Tim) Talbot, Germantown, Jeff (Toni) Peters, Pulaski, and Sara (Bob Jr.) Lentz, Oconto Falls; eight grandchildren, Hannah (fiancé Chris Thoenes) and Gracie Peters, Morgan (Zak) Zanella, Meghan and Cooper Talbot, Erica and Kyle Peters and Nathan Lentz; two brothers, Gary (Lynn) Peters, Oconto Falls, and Roger (Ginny) Peters, Little Suamico; one sister, Karen (Roger) Belongia, Oconto; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 50 years, Dottie, on Oct. 1, 2013; and two sons, infant Robert and Ron. Visitation will take place from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls followed by a prayer service. Private burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. The Peters family would like to thank Dr. William “Doc” Wittman for his many years of love, care and concern shown Gene.
