Elaine Anne Rankin, 94, of Bonduel, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, in Seymour.
Born on Aug. 10, 1919, in Seymour, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mable (Steffen) Kailhofer. Elaine grew up in Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School. On March 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jeff Rankin in Waukesha. After marriage, the couple moved to Bonduel where they started the Bonduel Farm Implement. Elaine also worked for the Bonduel Clinic for 32 years. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel where she was active with the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Elaine enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading and was an avid sports fan. She loved following her grandchildren’s activities on the internet. In her younger years, she also enjoyed camping and fishing.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Ron) Zernicke of Ann Arbor, Mich.; her three sons, Robert (Connie) Rankin of Forestville, David (Mary) Rankin of Green Bay, Gary (Karen) Rankin of West Bend; 10 grandchildren, Connie Kuske, Patti Sigl, Dan Rankin, Eric Zernicke, Kristin Bobawsky, Jeff Rankin, Shanna Rankin, Nate Rankin, Andy Rankin, Stephanie Rankin; and six great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff, on April 27, 1963; her parents; and a sister, Marcella (Victor) Szido.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
