The Oconto Falls American Legion selected Jacob Dorn and Sean Senn as the 2015 representatives to the 74th session of Badger Boys State.
Badger Boy State representatives are selected by local high schools throughout Wisconsin based on their qualifications as good students, exhibiting strong leadership skills and ranking in the top third of their class.
Jacob Dorn, of Abrams, the son of Cory and Kristin Dorn, is a senior at Oconto Falls High School and is involved in cross-country and golf. He excels in history and science and enjoys fishing, hunting and skiing. He is looking to pursue engineering after high school.
Sean Senn, of Oconto Falls, the son of Shane and Ann Senn, is a senior at OFHS and is active in cross-country and track. He excels in math and science and enjoys guitar, golf, snowmobiling and fishing. He is looking to pursue electrical engineering.
The weeklong Badger Boys State program ran the week of June 15 at Ripon College in Ripon. The annual program brings together approximately 850 high school students from across Wisconsin to create a 51st state known as Badger Boys State.
Badger Boys State participants develop their own party platforms, pass local ordinances and utilize a state patrol and judicial system to enforce the laws and constitution of the 51st state. Additionally, citizens choose from a series of schools of instruction, ranging from law school and peace officer school, to schools on lobbying and campaign strategies.
Badger Boys State participants also have an opportunity to participate in a variety of team sports throughout the week, a band and choir, color guard, and write for the Badger Bugle Citizen, the official newspaper of Badger Boys State.
