Dorn helps lead Hofa Park to Dairyland win over Nichols

Mason Dorn hit a pair of home runs and had five hits June 7 in Hofa Park’s 7-6 win over Nichols in a matchup of Dairyland League baseball teams.

Hofa Park 7, Nichols 6

Ayden Tomlinson’s RBI single broke a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning and helped the Panthers top the Nitros in Hofa Park.

Nichols came back after Hofa Park opened the game with four unanswered runs in the first two innings, including Mason Dorn’s solo home run in the first and his three-run homer in the second.

Jace Midbon’s home run for Nichols cut the Panthers’ lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning, but Hofa Park answered in the bottom half of the inning with Jack Huben’s home run.

Nichols tied the game in the eighth inning on a walk by Cade Johnson and a single from Ethan Volz.

Johnson took the loss for the Nitros despite striking out 10 batters over six innings.

Winning pitcher Jake Olson held Nichols to two hits over six innings and finished with nine strikeouts.

Midbon had two hits to lead Nichols at the plate, while Nick Volz added a pair of RBIs.

Bonduel 3, Waupaca 1

Bonduel improved to 5-0 in Dairyland play with a win over the Lakemen in Waupaca.

The Broncos opened the scoring in the top of the first inning after Cooper Campshure led off with a single, moved to second base on a groundout, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on Adam Frost’s sacrifice fly.

Waupaca tied the game in the sixth inning on a base hit, sacrifice bunt, groundout and passed ball, but they never scored again.

The Bears regained the lead in the ninth inning on Chase Reinke’s single and Frost’s two-run home run.

Jeff Thielke struck out 13 Waupaca batters over five innings but didn’t get the win on the mound. Jack Reinke worked three innings in relief and picked up the win, while Chase Reinke pitched the ninth inning to earn the save.

Pulaski at Shawano

Pulaski was scheduled to play Shawano on June 5, but the game was rained out and will be rescheduled.
