Donald “Don” A. Nordwig, age 86, of Clintonville, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.
Donald Arthur Nordwig was born Sept. 22, 1935, in Mattoon as the son of the late Arthur and Dulice (Kopelke) Nordwig. He grew up in the Shawano area and at the young age of 16 started driving truck for a local cheese factory. He met Barbara Lichtenberg at the Shawano County Fair, and a few years later the couple were united in marriage on July 20, 1956, in Clintonville. The couple resided in Clintonville while Don continued his truck driving career — first on his own and later working for Schneider and Foreway. After retirement, he drove for Bayland and even delivered Christmas trees for Arneson’s from Clintonville to Chicago. Don enjoyed going to antique truck shows with his buddy Bill Schoenike and volunteered in his spare time with the Clintonville Goodfellows. He was a past member of the Clintonville Curling Club and enjoyed ushering as a faithful member at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. Don will be remembered fondly by his family as the best dad who was a softy at heart.

Grandchildren: Andy, Joseph (Emilee) and Mike (Danielle) Paroubek; Kara (Mathew) Zellner; Matt (Jessie) and Marc Stori; and Melissa, Lauren and Ben Nordwig.
Great-grandchildren: Jack, Arthur, Amelia, Graham, Bennett, Isabelle, Jayden, Mason and Owen.
His sister: Janet (Wayne) Habeck.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Rita (Gene) Gurlt, and by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Don and Julie Lichtenberg and Gene and Arlyle Rosenthal.
Don’s funeral service will be held Monday, May 9, 2022, at noon at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville with Rev. Jason Zobel officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Don’s family would like to express their most sincere thanks to the staff in the palliative care department of ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah, the Clintonville Area Ambulance Service, the Clintonville Police Department and also to neighbors Dan Scherschel and Tim Morgan for their help and support.
