David J. Hawpetoss, 48, of Gresham, tragically was called home on July 25, 2015.
David was born to Jill Johnson and Bernard Hawpetoss on Jan. 29, 1967, in Green Bay. He loved spending time with the “fellas,” shooting pool, cheering on the Packers and taking in other sporting events. Anytime he was called on for help he went willingly to attend to others’ needs.
His life motto read:
One hundred years from now,
it will not matter what kind of car I drove,
what kind of house I lived in,
how much money I had in my bank account,
nor what my clothes looked like.
But the world may be a little better
because I was important in the life of a child.
And that he accomplished, as he raised the children and grandchildren available to him, and made an everlasting impact on many lives. We thank God for the time we shared with this amazing man. He stood strong for everything he believed in and did not waiver on that. Integrity, the trait of the great soldier, who served in the United States Army. David wed the love of his life, Gaynelle Peters, on Dec. 31, 1998. Theirs is a special love that surpassed much and faltered none.
David is survived by his mother, Jill Johnson; his father, Bernard Hawpetoss; his children, both his and those he raised, Clarisse (Tyrone) Tucker, Ry Hallada, Erika Batisse, Elissa Peters, Marcus Corn, Kenny Joe Peters and his “Baby,” Henry Long-Hawpetoss. He also loved his grandchildren, who where a huge part of his joy: Jay Boogie, Turina Rose, Adrianna (CeeCee), Owen (Oskin), Aireanna (Lil Girl), Mercedes (Cadees). Unfortunately, Serenity will never remember the love in Bumpas eyes when he looked at her. He truly adored them and loved caring for them.
David is also survived by his siblings, Joleen, Travis, Alisha and Peter Hawpetoss; along with many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his dear nephew, Jesse Hawpetoss, and a special aunt, Donnie Peters.

A memorial service will be held at Keshena Assembly of God on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2016, at 1 p.m. Please join us as we pay tribute to our dad and best friend.
