Daniel A. Nemetz, 87, Wittenberg, formerly of Bowler, died Sunday, June 21, 2015, at the Homme Home of Wittenberg. He was born on June 1, 1928, in Chicago, the son of the late Frank and Irene (Wertel) Nemetz.
On Oct. 14, 1950, Daniel was united in marriage to Veral Magley. They later divorced. On Aug. 14, 1982, he married Jeanette (Foth) Matz at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg.
Daniel farmed and owned his own trucks. He started driving semi in 1949 and drove for 57 years without an accident. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and restoring old tractors.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Nemetz, Bowler; five children, Kenneth Nemetz, Hatley, Diane (Steve) Baugnet, Townsend, Christine (Gary) Reese, Waukesha, Nancy (Gerard) Duginske and Lori (Ken) Hoyt, Whitewater; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, two stepchildren, Kelly (Kelle) Matz, Weston, and Randy (Theresa) Matz, Wausau; four sisters, Delores (Merle) Watzka, Mary Ann (John) Barrette, Gloria (Dick) Warden and Betty (Skip) Conrad, all of Green Bay; three sisters-in-law, Jannette Nemetz, Norma Nemetz and Delores Ryser; and one brother-in-law, James (Rita) Foth. He is also survived by stepgrandchildren and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by two sons, James and Gary; one grandson, Phillip Duginske; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Nemetz; sisters, Virginia (Leo) Tauschek; four brothers, Arnold, Hank, Robert (Eileen) and Raymond (Judy); and one stepson, Greg Matz.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Morris. The Rev. John Hielsberg will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
