Cora M. Rotter-Boerst

Cora M. Rotter-Boerst, 91, of Gillett, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024. Cora was born on Sept. 3, 1932, to the late Robert and Bernice (Scutt) Jewell. Her great-grandfather, Rodney Gillette, named the city of Gillett. She graduated with the class of 1950 from Gillett High School. In April 1952, Cora married William Rotter at Tabor United Methodist Church in Gillett. The couple raised four children, Larry, Patricia, Dale and Ron. She was a devoted homemaker, loving wife and mother. Cora was very involved in the community, including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Lions Club, Garden Club and VFW Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer EMT and assisted with the Red Cross blood drive for many years. After William’s passing in 1978, Cora met Eldon “Ollie” Boerst, and they married in April 1985 at Tabor United Methodist Church. Cora was a lifelong member of Tabor United Methodist Church. Cora is survived by her children, Patricia (Deborah), Dale (Jodi) and Ron (Sharon); daughter-in-law, Barb Rotter; grandchildren, Alex (Shannon), Hannah (Stephen), Noah (Michaela), Josh, Nicole (Shane) and Brooke (Devon); great-grandson, Archer. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Rotter and Ollie Boerst; son, Larry, in 2014; five brothers and four sisters, Wilmer, Alice Hansen, George, Harvey, Rodney, Mary Jean McNulty-Berger, Lois Riemer, Robert Jr., and Bernice Paulson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Tabor United Methodist Church in Gillett from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeremiah Cottrell-Duebner officiating. Cora will be interred at Wanderer’s Rest Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
