Holly Orgeman, a freshman from Birnamwood, will be one of five girls to represent the Wisconsin High School Bowling Club District 9 at the All-Star Challenge on Saturday, March 9, at Riviera Lanes in Green Bay.
The All-Star team is made up of the top five female and top five male bowlers from each district in the state, following the high school season.
District 9 includes teams from the Wausau area — including Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Gresham, Clintonville, Marion, Stevens Point, Rhinelander, Merrill and Tomahawk.
Other members of the girls All-Star team include junior Marley Krueger (Merrill), sophomore Morgan Bushman (Marshfield), freshman Peyton Smith (Merrill) and junior Johanna Dellenbach (Rhinelander).
The boys All-Star team is composed of freshman Brady Jaekes (D.C. Everest), senior Dylan Smith (Merrill), sophomore Landon Carter (D.C. Everest), freshman Cooper Rickert (Antigo) and senior Jack Steger (Antigo).
Bowlers will bowl three regular games of bowling to start competition March 9 and then will bowl as a team in 10 baker games, where each bowler bowls two frames in each game.
Orgeman is also competing in the state tournament at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley on March 1-2 as one of four girls to qualify from the district.
On the boys side, Henry Vater from the Iola-Scandinavia/Gresham co-op qualified for state individually, while the Wittenberg-Birnamwood boys bowling team will represent the district in Division 2 state bowling.
