Baby suffers broken arm at day care center, police say

An infant girl was taken to the hospital Tuesday after an accident at a Shawano day care center left her with a broken arm, police said. Shawano police reports indicate that the 12-month-old girl suffered “two forearm breaks” at Bullfrogs & Butterflies Childcare Center, 201 Eberlein Park Drive. Lt. Daniel Mauel said the incident appears to have been an accident and that no charges are expected. Reports show that police were called to the emergency room at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday and were on the scene for three hours. Officers reported that Bullfrogs & Butterflies “never told the parents about injuries,” but Mauel said day care workers were unaware of the baby’s injuries. He declined to say how the incident occurred. Bullfrogs & Butterflies owner Jamie Popp declined to comment.
