Antone Reiter, 71, of Neopit, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, in Green Bay. Born on Jan. 17, 1942, in Keshena, he was the son of the late Antone Reiter and Alegra (Dick) Reiter. After attending high school, Antone enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Germany for four years. After his discharge, he was employed by the security department for the Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin until retiring. In his younger years, he was an avid boxer, and was a card player his entire life. Antone enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and led a simple traditional Native American life. Antone was especially proud of his 30-plus years of sobriety. He loved to joke, play and tease his nieces and nephews. His carefree spirit will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Antone was preceded in death by his late brother Anthony Reiter who died May. Antone is survived by wife Patricia Martin-Reiter, Keshena; and five stepchildren, Cher (Benjamin) Smits, Dori Jo, Marla Jean, Tony Perez and Tina Reiter; numerous grandchildren; five sisters, Donna (Bob) Burkel, of Keshena, Selene (John) Jackson, of Milwaukee, Yolanda (Lyle Sr.) Toutillott, of Milwaukee, Ava Fowler, of Keshena, Frizty Reiter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Traditional funeral services were held June 26-June 27 at the Menominee Indian Pow-Wow grounds in Keshena with Ahanewaski Nahi officiating. Visitation was held at the St. Michael Parish Hall. The family worked with traditional drummers and other spiritual leaders. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano assisted the family with the arrangements.
