Alice Helen Hovey

Alice Helen Hovey, 89, of Green Bay, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at a local nursing home. Born on Feb. 19, 1924, in Withee, she was the daughter of the late Hans and Clara (Erickson) Christensen. Alice grew up in the town of Lessor and attended Wellhaven School. On Aug. 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to Harvey Ebert. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1962. After the death of her husband, Alice moved to Green Bay. On Sept. 4, 1971, she married Al Hovey. The couple made their home in the Bonduel area, and Alice continued to live in the surrounding area after Al’s death on Sept. 21, 1998. Five years ago, she moved to Grancare Nursing Home in Green Bay, where she continued to live until her death. Alice was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where she was active with the W.E.L.C.A. She enjoyed cross stitching, doing ceramics, traveling and cooking for her family. Alice is survived by a daughter, Carol (Richard) Simac, of Green Bay; her son, Keith (Pepper) Ebert, of Shawano; a “special daughter,” Sara Lenertz; a stepson, Al Hovey Jr.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Barb) Christensen, of Green Bay; two sisters, Ann Heinz, of Green Bay, and Doris Jarosinski, of Milwaukee; and two sisters-in-law, Agnes Christensen, of Pulaski, and Doris Ebert, of Clintonville. Alice was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Ebert; her second husband, Al Hovey; a stepson, Gary Hovey; her parents; four brothers; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in the town of Lessor with the Rev. Natalie Kramer officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
