Fourteen Shawano County organizations will share $42,000 in funds from the Shawano Area United Way.
The United Way board of directors voted to allocate the funds in February and distributed them in March. They received 19 requests totaling $103,000.
The money distributed was raised through regular campaign activities and the CoVantage Cares Giving Tuesday Campaign.
Uriah Williams, executive director of the United Way, said the process to choose recipients included reviewing the stated objective of each program and organization, comparing it to the United Way’s stated mission as an organization, thinking through community need and impact and then having verbal discussions with the requesting organizations.
Agencies receiving funding include:
• Big Brothers Big Sisters of Shawano County.
• Boys and Girls Club of Shawano.
• The Community Clothes Closet.
• Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin.
• Junior Achievement of Wisconsin.
• Lutheran Counseling and Family Services — Shawano.
• Navarino Nature Center.
• Red River Riders.
• Shawano Area Food Pantry and Resource Center.
• Shawano Area Food Center.
• Shawano-Menominee Resiliency Coalition and Rise Wellness Recovery Center.
• St. Michael’s Food Pantry of Keshena.
• The F.R.E.S.H. Project.
• Waterways Association of Menominee & Shawano Counties.
