Shawano County Sheriff George Lenzner announced Jan. 27 he will seek a second term as sheriff.
“I am proud to announce that I am running for reelection for sheriff,” he said. “It has been an honor to serve our community, and I am committed to continuing the work of keeping our county safe, accountable and strong.”
Lenzner was first elected sheriff in 2022. The position is a four-year term.
Prior to his election, he served the sheriff’s department for 34 years, rising through the ranks to become chief deputy the last seven of those years.
He ran for sheriff in 2022 when then-Sheriff Adam Bieber opted not to seek a third term.
After graduating from Shawano High School, Lenzner served four years in the U.S. Air Force. At the same time, he graduated from the police academy.
He joined the department in 1988, serving under five sheriffs until his own election.
Lenzner is running as a Republican. If there is a primary, it will be held Aug. 11. The general election will be Nov. 3.
