Red Robin skaters beat Hawks in overtime

Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School sophomore Ethan Novy scored the winning goal in overtime for the Antigo Red Robins in a 3-2 win over Shawano/Bonduel.

Neither team scored in the first period, with the Hawks taking a 1-0 lead at 14:52 in the second period on a Gavin Hundt goal with assists from Cameron Schroeder and Wyatt Schroeder.

At 7:16 in the third period, Hundt scored again as Shawano/Bonduel led 2-0. Michael Dillenburg assisted Hundt on his second goal.

Antigo fought back, with Billy Portman scoring at 13:15 with Liam Burt and Alex Brittenham assisting. The game was tied at 2-2 when Richie Veriha score at 15:06 with Portman assisting.

Novy scorned at 7:25 in the overtime period with Burt assisting as the Red Robins improved to 13-6 overall.

The Hawks dropped to 10-8 overall. After starting out 7-1, the team has lost six of its last eight games.

Hawks goalie Tyson Lyons collected 19 saves against 22 shots on goal. Red Robins goalie Austin Martinson had 34 saves against 36 shots on goal.

Shawano/Bonduel skaters were penalized three times for six minutes. Antigo was called for four infractions for eight minutes.

Bay Area 6, Northland Pines 1

The Storm moved to 8-10-1 overall with a 6-1 nonconference win over Northland Pines.
