It was a big night for Clintonville racers Aug. 8 at the Shawano Speedway as two of the divisions saw winners from Shawano’s southern neighbor.
Tanner Westphal took the checkered flag in the IMCA sport compact division after starting eighth. Fellow Clintonville racer Brad Wedde, who started seventh, finished in second place while Landon Braatz, of Shawano, started and finished in third place. Pole sitter Taylor Junk, of Shawano, finished in ninth place.
Westphal and Braatz won the heat races.
Lucas Lamberies, also from Clintonville, came from 10th in the IMCA mods to win first. Following him were Kevin Feck from Wausau in second place and Jordan Bartz from Shawano in third. Brad Moeller, of New London, was in the pole position but ended up in the rear of the pack, finishing 13th.
Lamberies also won one of the heat races, along with Marcus Yarie, of Wausau.
Jason McFadden, of Jim Falls, started second but didn’t let anyone pass him as he took the checkered flag in the USRA late models. Right behind McFadden was Lucas Peterson, of Stockholm, who finished second after starting sixth, while Josh Wahlstrom, of Rice Lake, started eighth but finished in third. Hoyt Cournoyer started in the pole position but finished seventh out of 17 racers.
Peterson and Corbyn Wassenberg, of Shawano, won the heat races.
In the IMCA sports mods, Tim Jorgenson, of Seymour, won after starting third. Cole Magnin, of Oconto Falls, started and finished in second place, while Logan Fleischman, of Mattoon, started in the pole position and finished third.
Jorgenson and Magnin won the heat races.
Brett Wenzel, of Manitowoc, made up some ground after starting eighth in the IMCA stock cars division, which had 23 racers for the night. Trent Nolan also made some gains to take second place after starting ninth. Dan Michonski, who started second, finished in third. Chad Guyette was in the pole position but finished in 14th place.
Wenzel, Nolan and Asa Doxtator, of Bowler, won the heat races.
