An Oct. 29 accident in the Town of Chase has been reclassified as a fatal crash after new information about the crash’s aftermath.
According to an amended Oconto County Sheriff’s Department report, the department learned Feb. 19 that the driver passed away two days after the crash, which occurred at 12:09 p.m. Oct. 29 on Yurek Road near St. Joseph Court.
A vehicle driven by Lenora C. Mayer, 87, of Pulaski, was westbound on Yurek Road negotiating a 90-degree curve when she left the road and struck a residential fence and a tree stump. Mayer told the responding officer that she was not sure what happened.
The report indicates that Mayer was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, where she died of her injuries in the early morning hours of Oct. 31.
