The Shawano FFA Chapter was named the state-winning Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event (CDE) team.
Team members include Levi Wendorff, Camden Kern, Aiden Kern and Tucker Reinke. Additionally, Wendorff was the top individual winner.
The Nursery/Landscape CDE tests students’ skills related to horticultural principles through plant identification of specimens by both their technical and common names, a multiple-choice test, plus hands-on activities which include landscape drawing, interpersonal relations and nursery operation practices.
Shawano will represent Wisconsin in competition at the National FFA Career Development Events to be held in October in Indianapolis during the 98th National FFA Convention.
All CDEs engage students in developing their communication, decision-making and teamwork skills to promote future career success.
Also, Addison Fischer, of the Gresham FFA, was named the 2025 State FFA Dairy Handlers Activity winner.
The objective of the Dairy Handlers Activity is to recognize their ability to set up their assigned animal to its best advantage, maintain the animal in its most advantageous position, exhibit effective restraint and move the animal as requested by the event ringmaster. Additionally, poise, calmness and a positive attitude play a significant role in gaining success in the Dairy Cattle Handlers Activity.
Through participation in the Dairy Cattle Handlers Activity, students learn to work with others in a way that is cooperative, courteous and helpful while demonstrating effective dairy handling skills. All Career Development Events engage students in developing their communication, decision-making and teamwork skills to promote future career success.
