Navarino at Cecil
No results were available from the Rangers’ trip to Cecil to face the Mudhens.
The Navarino Ranger Athletic Association will hold a ceremony June 8 and rename the Rangers’ field in memory of the late Kevin “Covey” Conradt.
The ceremony is set for 1 p.m. before the Rangers host the Bonduel Broncos at 1:30 p.m. in a matchup of Dairyland League baseball teams.
Conradt served as Navarino’s town chairman for nearly 40 years and as president of the Navarino Ranger Athletic Association.
Pulaski 15, Hortonville 14
Pulaski trailed by two runs heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, but came up with three runs to top the defending league champions.
Each team came up with a run in the first inning before Pulaski scored twice in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead.
The Reds and Stars added a run in the third inning before Hortonville took a 6-4 lead with four runs in the top of the fourth.
The Reds cut the lead to 6-5 with a run in the bottom of the frame.
Both teams added a run in the sixth before Pulaski took an 11-7 lead with five runs in the bottom of the seventh.
The Stars tied the game at 11-11 with four runs in the top of the eighth, but Pulaski broke the tie with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Hortonville scored three times in the top of the ninth and took a 14-12 lead into the bottom of the inning, but the Reds came up with three runs.
Hofa Park 14, Nichols 4
Hofa Park had 21 hits in a win over the Nitros.
Heinrich Walder scattered four hits and gave up one run over six innings to get the win on the mound. Javon Leisgang also went six innings for Nichols, but gave up eight runs on 15 hits.
Jon Rupno had four hits to lead Hofa Park at the plate, while Brinton Anderson added a team-high three RBIs and three hits.
Collin Leisgang hit a solo home run for Nichols. He and Carson Blohowiak led the Nitros with two of the team’s nine hits.
Bonduel 8, Shawano 2
The Broncos defeated the Lobos in their home opener at Jack Reinke Field.
Wyatt Reinke went the distance to get the win on the mound by giving up four hits and striking out seven batters.
Adam Frost, J.C. Reinke, Barret Bohm and Jack Reinke each had two of Bonduel’s 12 hits. Frost and Bohm also hit home runs for the Broncos.
Waupaca at Marinette
Results were not available from Waupaca’s game in Marinette.
May 31
Bonduel 4, Hofa Park 3
Chase Reinke’s double in the top of the ninth inning broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Broncos a win over the Panthers.
Bonduel’s Adam Frost opened the scoring in the first inning with a sacrifice fly, but the Panthers tied the game in the second on Ethan Volz’s RBI single.
Noah Weier’s run-scoring double and Frost’s RBI single gave Bonduel a 3-1 in the top of the third.
Neither team scored again until Hofa Park tied the game in the eighth on Brinton Anderson’s sacrifice fly and Tyler Jacobson’s RBI double.
Reinke picked up the win and Robbie Schuettpelz took the loss for the Panthers.
Frost, Eric Gruenewald, Weier and Reinke each had two of Bonduel’s 10 hits. The Broncos also stole seven bases.
May 30
Hortonville 2, Navarino 0
The Stars and Rangers combined for only six hits in the game in Hortonville.
Hortonville scored both of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Waupaca 6, Nichols 0
A four-run sixth inning helped the Lakemen stay unbeaten in the league standings.
Jack Eagan picked up the win on the mound after holding the Nitros hitless over four innings while striking out nine batters.
Mason Patz took the loss for the Nitros.
Brenden Canterbury and Luke Behm had three of Waupaca’s nine hits, while Braylon Nystrom picked up the save by striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth inning on nine pitches.
Shawano 7, Cecil 2
Consecutive hits from Brodie Hartmann, Garrett Engel and Noah Beilfuss and Braden Uelmen’s sacrifice fly gave the Mudhens and early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
The Lobos tied the game at 1-1 with an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth.
Chase Henning’s solo home run gave the Lobos a 2-1 lead in the sixth, but Cecil tied the game in the top of the seventh on three walks and another sacrifice fly from Uelmen.
Shawano responded by scoring five unanswered runs in the bottom of the eighth on five hits and holding the Mudhens scoreless in the ninth.
Bryce Popp picked up the win for Shawano by holding Cecil to one hit and one run over 3 2/3 innings, while Beilfuss took the loss despite striking out nine Shawano batters.
Hartmann and Engel led Cecil with two hits each. The Mudhens also stranded 11 baserunners.
Pulaski 4, Marinette 3
The Reds came from behind to get the win over the Redbirds at Doug McDermid Field.
Pulaski trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning. Reese Berg drew a walk, Brandon Black reached on an error and Al Hanson was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Berg scored from third base on Jordan Nichols’ deep fly ball to right field. The throw was on target to Marinette’s catcher, but Berg jumped over the top of him and landed on home plate to tie the game.
Bo Bramschreiber later reached on an error that scored the go-ahead and winning run.
