The Shawano School Board signed off Nov. 17 on additional referendum work to the tune of more than $2.7 million after it was reported that most of the bids for projects approved by voters one year ago came in under budget.

Kayla Brendemuehl will be the next activities director for the Shawano School District, effective Dec. 2.

Brendemuehl is succeeding Joel Wondra, who is retiring.

A Shawano Community High School graduate, Brendemuehl has served the district for eight years as a teacher, coach and associate principal.

Officials at Oconto Falls High School have announced the honor roll for the first quarter of the 2025-26 school year.

The northern lights (aurora borealis) dominated the night sky Nov. 12 over Poplar Road in the Town of Richmond. Auroras display dynamic patterns of radiant light that appear as curtains, rays, spirals or dynamic flickers covering the entire sky.

New rules are in place for all-terrain vehicles and utility-terrain vehicles in the city of Shawano, although the Shawano Common Council was split on the changes.
