The Wittenberg Area Historical Society has announced that a building on Vinal Street that once housed a pharmacy and later a bakery will be the home of its new museum.

Shawano County Supervisor Lowell Hammett was found guilty of violating the county ethics code, but one of his supporters warned the elected officials they could be next.

Shawano County graduated two more people Nov. 19 through its drug court program facilitated through the circuit court as Cindy Johnson and William Hilley III celebrated their sobriety with family, friends and county officials.

It’s not easy for Lindsay Johnson to contain her excitement about the Saturday after Thanksgiving in downtown Shawano.

“I always describe this day as our very own Hallmark movie,” said Johnson, Shawano Downtown Business Improvement District coordinator. “It’s a magical day.”

Revised building plans for the Shawano County Courthouse, justice center and jail were unveiled at the Nov. 19 meeting of the county board.

Cory Beyer, of Venture Architects, said the new plan would have the buildings constructed adjacent to the current courthouse and jail.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, Shawano’s Santa Parade isn’t far behind.

The annual event, sponsored by Charlie’s County Market, will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 5.
