The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region is soliciting comments for proposed improvements on 4.2 miles of state Highway 22 from East Highland Drive in Oconto Falls east to near U.S. Highway 141 in Oconto County.
The purpose of the website is to provide information regarding the proposed improvements, describe the potential impacts it would have on the community and offer an opportunity for public comment. The website includes details of the proposed improvements, schedule, and traffic impacts.

The proposed project consists of resurface-level improvements to extend the life of the roadway by milling the existing pavement and overlaying it with new asphalt pavement. This project is needed to address deterioration of the existing roadway. Proposed improvements include:
• Milling the top 2 inches of existing asphalt and replacing it with 2 inches of new asphalt.
• Widening the paved shoulders from 3 feet to 5 feet for bicycle accommodation.
• Perpetuation of the existing mainline and shoulder rumble strips.
• Replacing pavement marking.
• Ditch cleaning in two locations to maintain storm water flowing.
• Park-and-ride lot new asphalt surface, pavement markings, signing for ADA parking areas.
Construction is anticipated in 2030 but could be moved up to 2029. Highway 22 will remain open with flagging operations during construction operations.
