On Dec. 16, 2025, heaven welcomed another angel. Marlene Jarvey passed away peacefully and will be held in the hearts of those who loved her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother whose warmth and love have touched each generation.
Marlene was born May 23, 1933, to George and Mary (Rhode) Gillis.
She married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Jarvey, in 1950, and they spent most of their life together in Oconto Falls where they raised their five children.
She and her late husband shared a passion for travel. Together, with their children, they explored many miles in their little travel trailer, turning numerous journeys into precious memories and teaching their family the joy of discovery, patience and togetherness.
Marlene worked many years at the Oconto Falls Post Office, but her most important role in life was that of mother, wife and homemaker.
In 1974, they built a cottage in Upper Michigan, where they spent most of their summers enjoying fishing, pontoon rides, saunas and creating cherished family memories. After retirement, winters were spent in Arizona embracing the warmth and sunshine in this new chapter of their life.
A woman of resilience, Marlene faced life’s twists with dignity and a gentle touch. Her home was a haven of warmth, a place where everyone could find comfort and a listening ear. Her days were filled with reading, knitting, walking with her neighbors, spending time with her loved ones and working in her yard. Marlene will be remembered for her love that bound generations together.
May we honor her memory by living with the same warmth she shared with all of us. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Oconto Falls and attended St. James Catholic Church in Phoenix.
Marlene is survived by her son, William (Susan) Jarvey; three daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Sutrick, Linda (Gary) Pond, Michele (Tod) Maurina; nine grandchildren, Renee (Keith) LeBlanc, Connie (Bram) Spitael, Rob (Amy) Sutrick, Jacob (Jenna) Sutrick, Derrick (Emily) Sutrick, Marlee (Kurt) Schley, Chad (Amanda) Sharon, Michaela (Adam) Johnson and Keith (Heidi) Schilawski; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
She was preceded to heaven by her beloved husband; daughter, Connie Jo Jarvey; parents, George and Mary; brothers, Lloyd (Pug) and Bruce Gillis; and sister, Joann Weaver.
A viewing for friends and family will be held after 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Father Tom Pomeroy officiating. A burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
