Serving up more than just hot dogs and burgers, JDoggs has tucked within the restaurant a fun, family-oriented environment geared toward kids of all ages.

Offered at 136 S. Main St. in Shawano — along with various menu items — are simulated golf courses, cornhole games, Frisbee and much more.

Wildlife lies in wait out in the woods

Dangling my feet off the end-gate of our old white farm truck parked along our ridge, I was waiting for the wand pump to inhale the sap stored in the tote. The totes, placed at the bottom of a south-facing ridge, is the perfect set up for sap collecting and convenient to unload. It’s a hobby my husband and I enjoy. Early spring, as soon as the weather cooperates, we’re up in the woods as often as the trees release their ambrosia.

Pair of events encourage reading at Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart Catholic School had two key events during Read Across America Week that encouraged reading and promoted literacy.

Sacred Heart’s 4-year-old kindergarten class wrapped up Read Across America Week on March 6 with a celebration that transformed reading into a full‑room adventure. Students arrived in their pajamas, flashlights in hand, ready for a day of stories and creativity.

SCHS bands get top ratings at jazz festival

Shawano Community High School’s award-winning jazz bands came home after taking top honors Feb. 27 from the University of Louisville’s annual jazz festival — an invitation only event that features outstanding high school ensembles from across the country.

Shawano was the only school representing Wisconsin at the festival.
