Penass wins medalist honors at CWC meet

CWC Mini-Meet #1

Menominee Nation/Gresham’s Elliott Penass scored an 80 to tie for medalist honors at Foxfire Golf Course in Waupaca.

Teammate Gabe Boivin had an 84, tied for third best.

All told, Menominee Nation/Gresham placed second with 357. They were followed by Marion in fifth with 384, Wittenberg-Birnamwood in sixth with 406 and Bonduel in 11th with 510.

Also scoring for Menominee Nation/Gresham were Allex Mahl with 94 and Anikohsaeh Corn with 99. Kenew Awonohopay carded a 102.

Scoring for Marion were Collin Grogan at 91, Javen Prickette at 94, Elijah Scheef at 98 and Jarren Faehling at 101.

James Nolan also had a 103.

For Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Roman Johnson led with 85. Joining him were George Seegmiller at 101, Nicholas Flak at 102 and Emerson Vanorder at 118.

Slade Wierzba had a 119.

“With the exception of Roman, we struggled to post a decent score,” Chargers coach Chris Bartletti said. “The conditions were extremely windy, but everyone played the same course, and we didn’t handle it nearly as well as the top teams.

“However, Roman played his best round as a varsity player and has positioned himself in seventh place amongst all conference golfers. Hopefully that is something we can build on. The good news is that it is only the first leg of conference, so we will have a a few more chances to improve our position in the conference.”

Bonduel’s scores were Cameron Schroeder at 103, Cory Wussow at 106, Collin Zuleger at 139 and Brayden Reisner at 162.

NEC Mini-Meet #4

Oconto Falls’ Carson McDermid scored 82 and tied for the fifth-best score at Little River Golf Course in Marinette.

The Panthers placed sixth with a score of 349.

Brock McDermid scored 86, followed by Dylan Clark with 89 and Braden Holl at 92.

Will Allen also had a 94.

Bay Conference Mini-Meet #5

T.J. Smith and Collin Dieck each scored a 44 in Shawano’s sixth-place finish at Ledgeview Golf Course in De Pere.

The Hawks had a final score of 194.

Joining Smith and Dieck were Brayden Mead at 52 and Caiden Cappaert at 54.

Duane Gristeau-Blanche carded a 55.

M&O Mini-Meet #2

Lena finished third at 200 and Gillett was fourth at 206 on the Oak Crest Golf Course in Norway, Michigan.

Lena was led by Cooper Demmith’s 44, followed by Tanner Behnke at 50, Lucas Mongiat at 51 and Brayden Graef at 55.

Clay Peters carded a 62.

For Gillett, it was Brody Halla leading with 46, followed by Chase Rosenlund at 47, Parker Jenerou at 53 and Brandon Slatky at 60.

Katelyn Sturm also carded a 60.
