Wisconsin had 3.4 days suitable for fieldwork statewide for the week ending June 14, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Rain was welcomed across most of the state, although there were scattered reports of storm damage.
Topsoil moisture condition rated 2% very short, 14% short, 74% adequate and 10% surplus.
Subsoil moisture condition rated 2% very short, 15% short, 73% adequate and 10% surplus.
Corn emergence was 93% complete compared to the 5-year average of 89%. Corn condition was 80% good to excellent, up 1 percentage point from last week. Soybean emergence was 91% complete compared to the average of 85%. Soybean condition was 79% good to excellent, unchanged from last week.
Oats were 97% emerged compared to the average of 92%. Oats were 35% headed. Oat condition was rated 84% good to excellent, up 5 percentage points from last week. Winter wheat fields were 83% headed compared to the average of 77%. Winter wheat was 9% coloring. Winter wheat condition was 78% good to excellent, up 10 percentage points from last week.
The first cutting of alfalfa hay was 86% complete compared to the average of 80%. All hay condition was 75% good to excellent, up 6 percentage points from last week.
Pasture and range condition was 67% good to excellent, up 6 percentage points from last week.
