Seed of faith helps one branch out in life

Life — What does it mean to you? From conception to death, life for me is a journey. I have had what would seem as insurmountable mountains to climb and valleys so low that I felt I would never reach the peaceful calm plateau. Somehow, some way, I have survived the grueling mountains to climb and have walked through the low valleys on my life’s journey thus far. How have I made it this far on my life’s journey? I believe a seed of faith was planted in me a long time ago. A seed of faith that there is a higher power, entity greater than myself that would guide me on my journey. God is my higher power. This seed ever so small would need nourishment and tending to become stronger and flourish. The nourishment is hearing and studying God’s word. The tending is weeding out the bad thoughts and deeds that will kill the seeds. As my faith in God grows the bumps, hills and valleys on life’s road become easier to traverse. When I feel things are going so good that I don’t need anything but my knowledge to travel on my journey then my seeds of faith start withering. Weeds (problems) increase, solutions to the problems decrease, and life’s road that I am traveling on becomes almost unsurpassable. Other people I meet along my journey have shared their seeds of faith with me. I need to be certain that the seeds I am gathering are those to blossom my faith not to whither or destroy it. The more good seeds I gather, the stronger my faith and the easier the journey becomes. As you ponder what life means to you and what your journey has become, think about these questions: What would life be like without some hope? Without the problems with which to cope? Without the dreams and goals? Without the friendly souls? What would life be like without some joy? Without a girl or without a boy? Without the trouble and the strife? Without these things, what is life? Bless you. Kathryn Hennes is a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and lifelong Wisconsinite. Her passion for writing started in high school.
