Ice Bears suffer first loss of the season

Bay Area 5, Madison Metro 0

The Ice Bears pounded out 71 shots on goal as they shut out the Madison Metro Lynx 5-0. Scoring started in the first period with an Addison Dahl goal with assistance from Aisling Buchan and Abby Monmaerts.

In the seance period, when Bay Area had 28 shots on goal, Buchan scored at 0:37 with assists from Piper Losey and Dahl. Faye Brunke scored at 6:41 with assist from Hannah Von Haden and Lily Lyons.

Mya Sheppard scored at 2:55 in the final period with Brunke and Von Haden assisting. Then, Elliana Memken scored at 12:21 with help fro Buchan and Losey.

Bay Area goalie Kade Kitchenmaster had 19 saves. Lynx goalie Addy Buzzell had 66.

Madison Metro was penalized three times for six minutes, while Bay Area had no penalties.

Bay Area is 14-1 overall.

Friday, Jan. 9

Gentry Academy 5, Bay Area 3

The Gentry Academy Skaters did what no other team has done this year. They beat the Bay Area 6-3, handing the Ice Bears their first loss of the season.

Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Bay Area tied the game at 2:51 in the second period on a Mya Sheppard unassisted goal. The Ice Bears took the lead at 8:51 when Hannah Von Haden scored with assist from Addison Dahl and Faye Brunke. Five minutes later, Gentry tied the game at 2-2 to end the second period.

Gentry Academy scored twice in the early minutes of the third period to take a 4-2 lead. Elliana Memken scored for Bay Area at 15:39 with Aisling Buchan and Dahl assisting. However, Gentry scored twice more before the end of the game. To seal the win.

Bay Area goalie Reese Spiering had 17 saves against 21 shots on goal. Gentry Academy goalie Gabbi Johnson collected 20 saves on 23 shots on goal.

Bay Area was called for seven penalties for 14 minutes. Gentry Academy had three infractions for six minutes.
